Welcome to Emma McCabe - our ONE Programme Participant (intern) for 2018-19.
Emma McCabe was officially welcomed to Stirling Methodist Church as the ONE Programme Participant (OPP) for 2018-19. Emma will be working primarily on the Open Space Friday evening programme of events, but she is also planning an autumn series of discussions on "The Art of Biblical Interpretation" (known to academics as hermeneutics). Emma introduces herself below:
Hi, my name is Emma. I’m originally from Belfast and moved to Stirling for University in 2013 where I studied English & Religion for my BA. I continued my passion for religious studies to postgraduate level and have just recently completed my MRes at Stirling which specialises in postmodern apophatics. I’m looking forward to graduating this November.
I was drawn to the OPP role as I’m enthusiastic about facilitating discussions about spiritual and socio-religious issues. I think it’s important to challenge our beliefs and assumptions, and to share in dialogue with other people. To this extent, I believe that interreligious, interdenominational and intergenerational conversations are fundamental in bringing about understanding and change within our own socio-political climate. I’m therefore very much looking forward to being part of the Open Space Programme and convening a project that engages with some of the important questions that we face today.
